Bloody Scotland and the McIlvanney Prize

Well, that was quite an intense weekend. Totally stoked to win the 2018 McIlvanney Prize for Scottish Crime Book of the Year at the Bloody Scotland Festival in Stirling: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/sep/21/liam-mcilvanney-wins-scottish-fiction-award-father-bible-john

To win the award in such a strong field (the shortlist featured Lin Anderson, Chris Brookmyre and Charles Cumming – the ABC of Scottish crime writing) was incredible, and to win an award named in honour of my late father was pretty emotional. I also got to lead a torchlit procession through the streets of Stirling’s Old Town with Val McDermid and Denise Mina. I’ve had worse weekends…
